Turks and Caicos Tourism Guides

Turks is one of the great tourist destinations at the moment. By 1996 it was receiving nearly ninety thousand tourists from the USA alone. Canadians were also enamored by the place. In 2007 it was found that the tourist number exceeded two hundred and fifty thousand people per year. The Grand Turk Island is a particular attraction. The local government is taking a double pronged approach to tourism.

1. Tourism segmentation in Turks: The upscale resorts are targeted for the wealthy clients. There is a cruise ship port and recreation center which is set aside for the masses. Of course you might also be interested in visiting its coral reefs. They are some of the longest in the world. The segmentation of the tourist market within the locality has meant that nearly everyone is served under the arrangements. It is a tidy management of different priorities and different tourist markets. The end result is that you do not get a monopoly on the provision of services. As a diving destination Turks and Caicos is second to none in the world.

2. Unique features: There is certain sentimentality to the way that tourism is organized in this locality. For example a French tour company called the Club Mediterannee has created an all inclusive package for adults called “Turkoise”. You can have a wonderful meal at the Providenciales. They emphasize local cuisine and authentic tastes. Some of the great beach spots include Da Conch Shack. Here you can see locals and tourists mixing together.

3. Glamour: Amidst all the simple things, there are some Hollywood stars that have made this their home. Bruce Willis and Dick Clark are neighbors. There were interesting celebrity nuptials including the marriage between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner in 2005. Eva Longoria and Tony Parker had their honeymoon on the island. The great thing is that these celebrities have not contributed to the deterioration of the destination. Instead they have improved the attraction as a tourist center.

4. Racing: On the 31st day of January in 2008, the local authorities signed a letter of intent to host the Indy Racing League event known as the Turks and Caicos Grand Prix. This then trigger plans to construct a race track in Blue Hills. The Island has other attractions such as the 18-hole championship golf course. In 1999 they hosted the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championship.

5. Concerts: There is a Turks and Caicos Cultural Festival which started in 2003. Based in the Turtle Cove Marina, this is a 7 day extravaganza of artists. Recent performers include Anita Baker, Lionel Richie, Alicia Keys, LL Cool J, Billy Ocean, Kenny Rogers, John Legend, Chaka Khan and Michael Bolton. This is a vibrant destination where you can see the tourism industry at its best. There is also affordable accommodation and other facilities that you might consider as part of the package.

Visiting Turks and Caicos will give you a different perspective depending on where you land. There are different events including sports and concerts. Best of all, you will find friendly locals that are willing to show you around.
